Houghton Lake is centered around Michigan’s largest inland lake, with Houghton Lake covering about 20,000 acres and offering boating, fishing, and lakefront access throughout the area. North Higgins Lake State Park is about 15 miles away and provides access to hiking, swimming, and forested shoreline near one of the state’s well-known recreation areas.
